Kids Art Classes

This class is about exploring clay both for its maleable properties so kids can use hammers and rollingpins and water to see the possibilities in building. Some projects will be fired and glazed and some will not, adding other materials to decorate. We wiil make some collaborative projects that will be cleaned up and stay in the studio and individual pieces that will be taken home.

This is a process oriented class focused on furthering your child's creative confidence. While exploring all kinds materials, clay, glue, wood, recycled materials, beads, buttons and fabric students will learn to problem solve, verbalize their ideas and further creative thinking. They will participate in the joyful learning through exploring sensory based materials while learning age appropriate skills. 

Did you know that crickets have ears on their knees? Ladybugs, fireflies, rollie pollie bugs, and butterflies, we will look at bugs, read about bugs, talk about bugs  and make bugs and the gardens they may live in. This class explores a variety of mediums, printmaking, clay building, plaster, collaging, painting all through the tiny world in our garden.

Let's explore scupture using papermache, fabric, felt and tissue paper.  So many of the materials we will use can be found right at home. Students will learn some basic hand-sewing techniques in this class to make soft creatures and also get incredibly messy creating paper mache sculptures.

This is a process oriented class, designed for a parent/caregiver and child interactive, learning experience. While introducing your child to all kinds of materials, clay, glue, beads, buttons fabric. We'll explore printing, painting, sculpting, cutting and gluing. Some of the projects will be collaborative between adult and child but most will be watching what your child can do. Adult must be present to interact with child. The class is seasonally themed for fall, winter and spring.

Crowns, flags, kites, and masks. We will paint, build and collage our way to celebrating Spring.  We’ll talk about celebrations and march our through the neighbohood ringing bells and banging drums. This is a great class for those kids who like to work with all kinds of mediums and enjoy a little performing. 

Students will further and practice basic drawing techniques while doing character design, creating narratives and making pop up books. They will create characters, learn about comic book structure and explore different kinds of drawing materials. Lots of story telling happens in this class while drawing. 

This isn't your ordinary collage class. Collages can be beautiful made from colorful vibrant papers and they can be funny made from animal images.  Collages can be abstarcdt exploring pattern and textures or can be self-portatints. Collages can be made into sculptures by folding and glueing.  This is a great class to explore composition and skills in cutting and making choices.
