Kids Art Classes

We offer art classes for ages 2-11 

The classes here are organized by days of the week, Mondays first, Sunday last so you can easily find classes on a particular day. We do not prorate for missed classes.

All of our classes are process oriented, meaning we ultimately focus on the process rather than what the end product looks like. Some of our classes revolve around a medium, drawing, printmaking, ceramics or textiles and for little ones we offer themes such as Animals or Under the Sea or Fairylands. These classes explore the theme with a variety of materials. Our Process classes follow the seasons for making art. By engaging this way we encourage the children to see the possibilities in their environment outside of the walls of our studio.

We are very thoughtful with the age limits for our classes and work hard to create projects that are age appropriate. Please respect our age restrictions.

Dadandson2

This is a process oriented class, designed for a parent/caregiver and child interactive, learning experience. While introducing your child to all kinds of materials, clay, glue, beads, buttons fabric. We'll explore printing, painting, sculpting, cutting and gluing. Some of the projects will be collaborative between adult and child but most will be watching what your child can do.

  • ages 2-3 years

This is a process oriented class focused on furthering your child's creative confidence. While exploring all kinds materials, clay, glue, wood, recycled materials, beads, buttons and fabric students will learn to problem solve, verbalize their ideas and further creative thinking. They will participate in the joyful learning through exploring sensory based materials while learning age appropriate skills.

  • This is a 6 week class
  • This is grownup/child class. Adults must stay to engage with the children.

Purplesmock

This is a process oriented class, designed for a parent/caregiver and child interactive, learning experience. experimental painting

For Ages 4, 5, 6

Colorfulhands
Children will explore different modes of painting making their own brushes and their own paints and pigments from plant materials. We will do some printmaking, dyeing of fabrics and use watercolor in its many forms of pencil, crayon and in liquid. This is a great class for those kids who like to explore and experiment with a familiar medium

cardboard creations

For Ages 7, 8, 9, 10+

In this class we will transform ordinary household cardboard into whimsical works of art. Students will explore the possibilities in cardboard through painting, printmaking and manipulating the material to make little scenes, faces and explore the ideas of abstraction, color, pattern and compostion.

autumn alchemy

Celebrating Autumn students will be exploring a variety of materials like clay, watercolor paints, paper, cardboard, paint, fabric, beads and more. We will be making masks, creating troll houses from clay and using leaves for painting and collaging

natural dyeing

For Ages 7, 8, 9, 10+

Dyedteatowels

 Learn about the power of plants and dyes. We will explore the dyes in their powder for sprinkling and smashing and do some vat dying learning how to make patterns. Kids will be making some functional objects like towels and tote bags and some wall hangings. This is a class for those who like to learn a technique.

Cardboardtrees

The forest is such a bountiful subject for art making with kids. From using materials found in nature like sticks, seeds and leaves to using traditional art materials, like paint, glue, paper and clay, the kids will create many artworks. They will make dioramas, animal homes, paintings and so much more.

Join us to make your own doll house with a wooden house frame. Using a variety art techniques to decorate the house, kids will learn printmaking techniques to make wallpaper, painting and color mixing to paint the rooms, sewing to make mattresses. We will make furniture and little paintings and much more.
