Camps
Our camps are a well balanced combination of teacher led art making activities and free play time and choice time. All surrounding the theme for the week. We also read stories and visit the library on Fridays.
We go for walks, do scavenger hunts in the neighbohood and have our lunch outside picnic style. Our camps are limited to 14 kids per week so that we can offer plenty of room at the tables. We have added an air filter in the studio to help keep the air clean.
Masks are optional in the studio at this time. We will support your child whether they wear a mask or not.If someone in your family is exposed to the covid 19 virus or exhibiting and ill symptoms in the days before camp please let us know and we can work our a credit or partial refund. We can not give refunds the day camp starts
All of our teachers have been vaccinated.

weaving
Students will learn the tabby stitch, soumak stitch, looped tabby stitch, rya knot, lark’s head knot and how to make tassels and pom poms. We will use yarn, paper and ribbon and even some natural materials we find on our walks through the neighborhood to make different kinds of weavings and wall hangings.

flying machines
Propellers, dirigibles, boats that fly, hot air balloons will begin our odyssey into air travel and adventure. We will be making a lot of paper airplanes during this week as well as flying machines from recycled materials and paper mache. This is mainly a sculpture week but we will also do some drawing and printmaking.

flora and fauna
There are so many ways to use natural material. We will introduce the kids to using natural materials to learn a variety of techniques. We will make natural plant based dyes from flowers, beet powder and tumeric to dye their own fabrics. We will do some printmaking using natural materials we find on our walks around the neighbohood. We will also use clay to build animal homes.

painting
Exploring paint and its many forms will be the subject of this short week, watercolor paint, tempera paint, sumi ink, powdered paints, kids will make large scaled paintings, collaborative paintings, still-life paintings, abstract paintings, black and white paintings. We'll also explore color by mixing our own paints.

treehouse building
Join us for a week of designing, collaging and bulding a treehouse model. We will be using wood, cardboard, tongue depressors, bottle caps, beads and so much more to create a sculpture and furniture to go with it.

potion lab
We will be mixing, stirring, making creations in our own apothecary. The kids will have the opportunity to discover the magical, healing, aromatic, and delicious properties of plants and herbs. Students will make salves, candles, soap, teas as well a some magical made up potions.

POP art week
We will be transforming the studio into Andy Warhol's Factory this week by covering what we can with tin foil. Students will use comic imagery and ideas of everyday objects to create artworks. This week will focus a lot on printmaking but we will also do drawing and creating some soft sculptures inspired by Claes Oldenberg.

drawing week
Large scale drawings, tiny drawings, plein aire drawing, self-portrait drawing. We will use a variety of materials, charcoal, pencil, watercolor, chalk pastels to make sculpture drawings, narrative drawings, still-life drawings. We will be doing a lot of drawing from observation both in the studio and while walking around the neighbohood.

rainbow week
This is a color theory week. We will be mixing, mixing and mashing colors together. This class will explore color in its many forms. Students will be painting using watercolors, tempera and paints we will be mixing ourselves. Students will create collages sculptures and doing some science experiments.

teeny tiny things
Students will have the opportunity to use a variety of materials from everyday objects to natural materials and turn them into tiny treasures, a matchbox will become a suitcase or a birdhouse, bottle caps will become pies or a cakes, an acorn cap might become a planter for tiny mushrooms. A thread spool might become a table.

printmaking
This week we will be exploring all kinds of printmaking techniques and layering them with collages and painting. We will make our own stamps and printing plates to print on fabrics to make banners, on cardboard to make sculptures. We will do mono-printing, foam printing and printing from everyday objects.

recycled art
Milk cartons, water bottles, tp tubes, wood scraps, bottle caps, egg cartons and fabric will be the materials for this weeks campers. We will be creating paper mache creatures and animals, collages and sculptures through manipulating materials.
